Street - Kids in Harare have trouble getting food, clothes, blankets and especially education.
Many of the street-kids do not have parents because they have both died of AIDS. Getting school is the biggest problem
faced by many poor people in Zimbabwe.
We co-operate with the Christian Charity in Harare known as "Luck Street Mission". They can safely and honestly recieve
and pay school fees for children selected by our organization as priority in need of schooling.
We can give you the name and details of children who you are paying school fees for, and we can e-mail you reports of
their progress at school.
You can also post items to us, but remember we have to pay customs duty on most gifts recieved by post.
You can post school exercise books, ballpoint pens, rulers, pencils, rubbers and crayons to the co-ordinator of HSKS and
she will give them to needy children, or a child you nominate.
Classic Supermarket in Fife Avenue Shopping Center sometimes gives food to Street - Kids. If you want to send them money
for giving food to street - kids, or for a child you sponsor, please e-mail the Co-ordinator, Rachel and she will make
arrangements.
Children's Clothes and Blankets are always useful.
Our organization would also benefit from donations of electronic goods, such as digital cameras, video cameras, laptop
or desktop computers.
At this time our organization does not have a bank account, as we are not a registered welfare organization.
We have contacts with other street kid organizations, who may be willing to recieve money for specific
proposals for specific children.
We, also, know honest people who can recieve money via Western Union, but they would like a small commission for their
efforts.
We have selected some street - kids who we feel are particularly deserving for support with school fees and educational
assistance.
You can find out more about these kids by clicking the names in the side bar on this web-page.
The names of the three young street girls we are trying to get school fees for are :
Primrose Maora,
Louisa,
Edith.
Please Note that this web based program is monitored to avoid unpleasant or harmful behaviour.
If you are planning to visit Harare we can arrange for you to meet "Your Pupil" at Luck Street Mission, if you advise
us at least two weeks in advance of the date you will be in Harare. Please understand that Children from Harare sometimes
go to school outside the City because school fees are lower in the Rural Areas.
There is a school which is for parentless children about thirty miles from Harare. It is an a farm known as "Melford
Farm" and is part of a complex called "Mbiya Nyehunda Institute". It provides meals and accomidation for children who
are sponsored by donors. Visitors may visit the school if prior arrangements are made with :
Streets Ahead,
Livingstone Avenue/Sixth Street,
Harare.
If you take photos of "Your Pupil", please post a copy of the photographs to Rachel, and she will give it to the child,
who will be absolutely delighted.
If you take digital photos you can publish them on the Web, if you get Rachel's permission in advance.
